WHAT IS DHA?
DHA (Dihydroxyacetone) is an ingredient used in self-tanners.
The DHA molecule can be plant-derived or synthetic. That'so products use DHA extracted from sugar cane, i.e. 100% natural.
The higher the DHA %, the more intense the tan.
DHA concentrations in self-tanners range from 2 to 10%, and in salon tanners up to 14%.
The intensity of the tan colour given to the skin depends on the DHA % in the product.
For best results, you need to choose the right product for your natural skin colour: for very fair skin, it is better to choose products with a lower concentration of DHA (2-4%),
5-8% for light and medium-dark skin, and the highest DHA concentration (8-10%/14%) for dark or tanned skin.
